Nalani Stewart of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a senior majoring in English Literature with a minor in Creative Writing, said she enjoyed the guided poetry exercise focused on “Where I'm From” by George Ella Lyons.

“We were able to recreate the poems ourselves and as a class, which was something I had never done before. It gave us the chance to take a break from our busy schedules and open our creative brains with different groups of people. We were able to interact with the other ideas floating around in heads of people other than us. Overall, it was a cool experience and Green was a wonderful poet and teacher," Stewart said.

Another senior in the English department, Lydia Privett of Wahoo, Nebraska, said Green brought energy to the poetry exercise.

“You could just tell how excited she was to be there. It was really amazing to have her here and get to learn from her,” Privett said.

Green is a Pushcart Prize winner and has been honored by inclusion in Best New Poets, and fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center and Sewanee Writers’ Conference. She is the editor of an anthology, “Welcome to the Neighborhood,” forthcoming January 2020 from Ohio University Press. Green is the author of “Earth Science” and “Skeleton Evenings.” She is currently working on her second full-length collection of poetry and is an Assistant Professor of English at St. Cloud State.
