LINCOLN – For the fourth straight year, the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) experiences overall growth in enrollment with an increase in student headcount. As of September 2, the NSCS had an overall increase in headcount of 0.2%. The State Colleges have increased enrollment by 6.3% since Fall 2018. The most recent increase is primarily attributed to a 19.7% increase in new transfer students at ÂÌñÉç State, Peru State, and Wayne State Colleges.

CHADRON – An article co-authored by ÂÌñÉç State College Assistant Professor Dr. Elizabeth Kraatz was published in the July issue of Theory Into Practice. The peer-reviewed journal is designed for teachers and administrators to support the application of educational research to educational practice.

CHADRON – Cooper Reichman, a Rangeland Wildlife Management senior, worked as an interpretive ranger at Mount St. Helens National Monument this summer. The native of Chappell, Nebraska, said he likes to tell people he is minoring in adventure.

CHADRON – Twelve new faculty members will join ÂÌñÉç State College this fall. They are Dr. Janet Anthony, Dr. Jami Clifford, Dr. Nathan Favaloro, Jeremiah Downes, Jeremy Quick, Dr. Haesong Kwon, Danielle Covolo, Dr. Gabriella M. Pruitt Santos and Matthew Bower. Finally, Dr. Bryan Dorrel will be an Associate Professor in the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Department.

CHADRON – ÂÌñÉç State College’s presence in Alaska is expanding. In addition to a well-established graduate program in Anchorage, an undergraduate cohort from the Palmer/Wasilla area will enroll this fall.

CHADRON – Esports is growing at ÂÌñÉç State College. The Eagle Esports community includes both casual gaming and opportunities for students to join teams that compete in tournaments against collegiate teams from around the nation, according to recently hired Esports Coach and CSC student Drew Kurtenbach of Rapid City, South Dakota.

CHADRON – Three ÂÌñÉç State College faculty members are assisting with the ÂÌñÉç State Park Bioblitz Sept. 9 and 10. The public is invited. ÂÌñÉç State College Professor Dr. Teresa Frink will co-lead a session about small animal survey set-up Sept. 9 at 4:30 p.m. On Sept. 10 at 9 a.m., Assistant Professor Jonathan Spiess will teach a class on plants, and Professor Dr. Mathew Brust will lead a session about insects at 10 a.m.
